It’s been a BUSY couple of days! I had the wonderful opportunity in my capacity as Director of the Louisiana Children's Trust Fund to welcome to the State Mr. Jerry Milner who serves as the United States Commissioner of the Administration for Children and Families, a division of the United States Department of Health and Human Services. During his visit I was honored to arrange visits with a few of our partner programs.
As most in this area know, LCTF is tasked with (among other things) furthering the conversation regarding the prevention of child abuse and neglect in the State. We have the wonderful opportunity to fund programs that are working to 💙PREVENT💙 abuse and neglect and to provide resources to parents and caregivers.
Over the past two days, I along with Board Chairman, Attorney Franchesca Hamilton-Acker, had the chance to visit programs in Prairieville, Hammond. Belle Chase and Metarie. I think my absolute favorite was visiting the first graders at Oak Grove Elementary! They were a lively bunch! 🤣 We also enjoyed dropping in to the CAC in Hammond and seeing Hayward, the professionally trained Facility Dog who provides additional advocacy and support to children throughout the forensic interview process.
THANKS to everyone who is working so hard to improve outcomes for Louisiana’s children and families! We are certainly moving the pendulum forward!"
